Tahoe Donner – Nordic Walking – Tahoe Donner Cross Country Center. 6:45 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. For all you outdoor enthusiasts and cardiohungry folks, Nordic Ski Walking is back this summer. Walking with poles radically reduces the stress to shins, knees, hips, and back. Nordic Walking is low impact yet provides a highly effective workout burning more calories (40% more) and working more muscle groups than regular walking. Tahoe Donner – Boot Camp – Trout Creek Recreation Center. 8:15 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. A high energy class on strengthconditioning with a splash of cardioand core work. This class uses combinations of classic exercises that improve overall strengthof primary muscle groups. This class will be held outdoors. Sampling of exercises include: lunges, push-ups, dips, plank, and sit-ups. Exercises can be modified for beginner to advanced abilities. All classes are subject to change or cancellation. Tahoe Donner – Trout Creek Recreation Center Water Safety Instructor Course (through June 12). This course will teach you the skills needed to teach all levels of swimming to both youth and adults. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is a competitive edge in the aquatics industry and often is the factor that gets you the job over other candidates. WSI Certification is a requirement for all Tahoe Donner swim instructors. This class will meet at Trout Creek Recreation Center. You must attend all scheduled classes to receive certification. Tahoe Donner – Trout Creek Recreation Center Free Swim Lesson Demo Day. On Tuesday June 9 and Thursday June 11 from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. we will be conducting a Water Safety Instructor class to train our swim instructors for the summer season. As part of the training, we need real students to practice teaching skills. Come in for a level check and a free 30-minute lesson. Reservations must be made in advance by calling the Aquatics Coordinator at 530-587-9646 by Friday, June 5. Students must be at least 6 months old for Guppies, and be accompanied by an adult in the water and at least 2.5 years old for all other levels. Tahoe Donner – Trout Creek Recration Center Free Swim Lesson Demo Day. On Tuesday June 9 and Thursday June 11 from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. we will be conducting a Water Safety Instructor class to train our swim instructors for the summer season. As part of the training, we need real students to practice teaching skills. Come in for a level check and a free 30-minute lesson. Tahoe Donner – Equestrian Center Opens for the Season. The Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center offers a wide variety of services and activities. We have been in operation since the early seventies and are proud to be the finest multi-purpose facility in the area. The Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center offers trail rides, pony rides, private lessons, horsemanship camps, boarding, BBQ’s and other special events. Our wide range of services will meet the needs of most recreational horseback riders. On one of our trail rides you can experience high mountain meadows, during wildflower season or perhaps catch a glimpse of deer, California black bears, red-tailed hawks, rabbits, quail and other wildlife. Sign your kids up for our horsemanship camp where they will have their “own” horse for the week. Bring your toddler out for a pony ride on one of our friendly ponies. The whole family will enjoy our BBQ with wagon rides, chicken and rib dinner, s’mores, a kid treasure hunt and a family water balloon toss. Our facility is open from mid-June to Labor Day. An ideal way to immerse rising tennis stars in a 4 hours per day, 5 day camp. This camp will have 5-12 year oldsparticipate in a widerange of tennis activities to help hone their skills to perfection with the Little Tennis program. An ideal way to immerse rising tennis stars in a 4 hours per day, 5 day camp. This camp will have 5-12 year oldsparticipate in a widerange of tennis activities to help hone their skills to perfection with the Little Tennis program. Tahoe Donner – Historical Kayak Tour at the Beach Club Marina. 8:00 a.m. Join us on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for a guided tour of the east end of Donner Lake. Your guide will present information on the history of the lake and interesting facts about the surrounding area and its inhabitants. After about an hour on the water, the tour will return to the Beach Club Marina where breakfast will be served on the deck. Tours will begin at 8:00 a.m. starting Tuesday June 23 and the last tour will be held on Wednesday , August 19. Tahoe Donner – Historical Kayak Tour at the Beach Club Marina. 8:00 a.m. Join us on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for a guided tour of the east end of Donner Lake. Your guide will present information on the history of the lake and interesting facts about the surrounding area and its inhabitants. After about an hour on the water, the tour will return to the Beach Club Marina where breakfast will be served on the deck. Tours will begin at 8:00 a.m. starting Tuesday June 23 and the last tour will be held on Wednesday , August 19. Join us for day hikes throughout the summer, culminating with two overnight hikes. Learn about the flora and fauna of the Central Sierra and proper hiking etiquette. This program is geared towards teenagers and adults who seek the adventure that hiking the NorthShore has to offer. Potential hikes may include Gold Lake Loop, Castle Peak, 7 Lakes Basin, MartisLake Loop and more, with lake swimming available on almost every hike. Register for each hike and/or overnight individually. Meet at Trout Creek Recreation Center. A mandatory informational meeting will be held prior to overnight hikes. Northstar at Tahoe – Free Guided Hikes (with hiking lift ticket). 1:30 p.m. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn more about Northstar Resort’s flora and fauna, sixteen scenic hiking trails, and one-hundred plus miles of mountain biking trails. Northstaris offering free guided hikes (withlift ticket) throughout the summer with a Northstar mountain expert. Perfect for a weekend retreat with the family or flying solo, these guided hikes meet at 1:30 p.m. at the top of Zepher by the information sign. Don’t forget to pick up your hiking lift ticket at the Season Pass office or Plaza Bikes located in the Village at Northstar. The guided tour will follow the Sunset Loop Trail, a fairly easy 0.76 mile hike. Water, sunscreen and appropriate footwear is highly recommended. Leashed four-legged friends are welcome. This camp will have 5-12 year olds participate in a wide range of tennis activities to help hone their skills to perfection with the Little Tennis program. Tahoe Donner – Swim Camp – Trout Creek Recreation Center 9-10:30 a.m (Through July 3). Swim Camp is fun in the sun. Come to camp and improve your endurance and swim skills through a variety of games and drills. Participants must be 7 years or older and completed equivalent of Level 4 or higher. A strong focus on the technical skills for our older age groups will have your kids playing in no time. An age-specific breakdown of groups will help foster learning and keep your children having fun. Cost: $10 for 3-4 years old, $12 for 5 and up Monday – Thursday. Tahoe Donner – Historical Kayak Tour at the Beach Club Marina. 8:00 a.m. Join us on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for a guided tour of the east end of Donner Lake. Your guide will present information on the history of the lake and interesting facts about the surrounding area and its inhabitants. After about an hour on the water, the tour will return to the Beach Club Marina where breakfast will be served on the deck. Tours will begin at 8:00 a.m. starting Tuesday June 23 and the last tour will be held on Wednesday, August 19. Tahoe Donner – Bocce Ball League – Northwoods Clubhouse. This summer Tahoe Donner will have two Bocce Ball leagues for the serious and maybe not so serious bocce ball players. Three matches will be played per night using all three courts. One match consists of three games. Each league will be comprised of 6 teams with 8-12 players per team. Northstar at Tahoe – Retro Skate Night at the Village Skating Rink. 6-9 p.m. Lace up your skates and get your groove on in the Village at Northstar. Enjoy your favorite music from the 70’s and 80’s on Tuesday’s through the end of August. A $50 cash prize for the best retro dressed guest will be given out each Tuesday! Drink specials at the Cabana Bars. The event is free. Skate rentals are available for $5. Weather and conditions permitting. Skaters under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sing a release of liability.
Tahoe City – Sunset Cruise 5:30 p.m. Join Captains Mike and Jim from Sailing Charters for a magnificent sunset cruise on a 50-foot sailboat. Appetizers, refreshments, Chardonnay and beer with friends while supporting the Tahoe Maritime Museaum’s operations and programs. Departs from Tahoe City at 5:30 p.m. This inqugural sunset cruise is being offered exclusively to Museum members.
